Utilizing the newest applications on a variety of platforms is a task
in which I excel in. Throughout my time in the field and having worked
for some of New York's and perhaps the world's top production and pre press
houses has had its benefits. The benefits of having an all around production,
designer and creative type can actually reduce costs to your company. All
around functions is one of my better qualities. I can think up a storyboard
and actually follow it through in all stages of development, whether it's
designing a package or pre flighting digital files en route to a service
beauru or printer I have the experience hands on, to perform.
In today's market I've seen employers place ads in hopes to find the right person to fill a position. It's strange when I see some of these positions going to persons who claim to have the know how and the skills it takes to perform, yet on numerous occasions the requierments are never met. Every factor seems to match on a resume but when certain duties are in need to be met, and time is not an option you can afford to give, it wouldn't be beneficial the settle for anything under exceptional. It's better to go with someone who knows how, on any platform who is well versed in all applications and not just one.
When LaserMaster first introduced the DM line of printers, I was working
at at Copytone Visual Communications. I believe it was the first pre press
house in the city to use these. An eight color wonder machine that quickly
replaced their Encad Novajet line of printers. While still a little rough
on the edges I was taught with extreme detail the functions to trouble
shoot as well as print to the machine using their Colorpass Servers. Sometimes
files had to be reconfigured as I recall due to certain bugs in the software,
such as postscripting errors in trapping and or embedded documents. It
takes a knowledge of file preparation, precision and skills to operate
such machines, and not just an operator or designer who can hit a print
button.
I can go on with a full commercial site on what applications, platforms
and or functions I can perform, but it would be overkill in my eyes. With
your company in need of a designer, comp artist or production person, here
is my resume.
